Lake Kerkini is one of the most important hydro biotopes of Greece. It hosts an admirable number of flora and fauna. Flamingos, cormorants, cranes, Dalmatian pelicans, ducks and storks are some of the birds that can be observed. Many of them are rare and endangered species.
With this project OCEANUS  gives birdwatchers the opportunity to observe more than 300 bird species. Apart from birds, visitors can also see mammals, butterflies, orchids and many more species.
The best season to join this project is winter (from early November  to mid March) and  spring (from early April to late June) during the breeding season.
